What is the EMS method

Raisa Tarnopolska

The EMS method was developed to rehabilitate the musculoskeletal system after various injuries. The device uses electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) technology to facilitate muscle training and improve muscle performance, strengthening the stimulated muscle and increasing its resistance to fatigue.

Muscle strains, microtrauma of joints, tendons and ligaments — all of this can be successfully treated with electrostimulation, because a directed discharge of electric current accelerates regeneration.

How does an EMS device work? Stimulation is based on the electrical conductivity of nerves and muscles. The natural irritants of muscles are the signals produced by nerve cells. Electrostimulation models the muscle excitation process, except that the signal comes not from nerve cells, but from a special electronic device.

The person puts on a special suit equipped with sensors. The device generates a signal that is identical to the impulse with which a person's brain tells the muscles to contract and relax. The muscles pick up this impulse and carry out the command. The sensations during training may at first feel unusual, because tissue activity increases without a direct brain command.

Muscle contraction in response to stimulation of the motor nerves is identical to natural movement. As a result, fitness and muscle definition are actively restored, muscles are strengthened, fatigue is relieved and toxins are flushed out.

A session consists of three parts

  • Warm-up — a set of cardio exercises.
  • Main strength part. It differs in the depth of the impulses and the nature of the delivery. Discharges are delivered with pauses, alternating between work and rest. Exercises are performed at the moment of muscle contraction under the action of electrostimulation. This allows maximum benefit to be drawn from every movement.
  • Closing part — a lymphatic drainage massage that activates the mechanism for removing metabolic waste and promotes faster recovery of the body.
